Everything you need to know about hybrid schooling

In the past couple of years, the traditional schooling system as well as the classroom environment has changed drastically. This is thanks to the introduction of technology and the understanding of the benefits of online learning. Hybrid schooling is a blend of in-person and virtual learning. This combination of the two learning methods is reshaping the way that students are able to learn, interact and succeed.

Timothy House School has established itself as a hybrid school which provides a space for students to freely explore their academic potential. Students of Timothy House have the option to either come in and work in our hub or stay at home and work on their own. This is beneficial as all students are different and have different learning preferences. Some students prefer working on their own and others need the extra help. Timothy House has onsight student facilitators to assist and guide our students if they do decide to come in and use our facilities.

Hybrid learning offers a range of benefits which helps students achieve their academic goals. One of the biggest benefits to hybrid schooling is the flexibility that comes with it. Students are given the freedom to structure their learning around their schedules. With the flexibility comes a personalised learning approach which is accommodating to different learning styles, paces and, preferences. This ensures that each student receives a tailored education that enhances their potential.

Students who experience anxiety or stress are able to excel in a hybrid learning environment. The stress that these students are faced with often form due to the pressures of attending in person classes. Hybrid learning reduces this stress and anxiety that students are facing as they are able to participate in class remotely.

Another benefit of hybrid learning is the availability of materials for the students. Students are able to access various learning resources through digital platforms, including course materials, lecture videos, and any additional information that might be useful. Having this extra information allows for students to learn the material at their own pace, at anytime and from anywhere. This benefit of hybrid learning is useful for those who may have limited access to traditional classroom materials or for those students who might have missed any information during class time.

Although there are many benefits to hybrid learning there are also a few drawbacks to the hybrid learning system. As mentioned before, the hybrid learning environment allows students to have more freedom and flexibility in their work schedules. This does mean that students need to have time management skills as well as discipline towards their academics. If they don’t have these skills, they are more than likely to fall behind in their studies or become overwhelmed.

Students who don’t have access to the internet won’t be able to attend classes or view their classwork. They need access to a reliable internet source for hybrid learning to be effective. Without it, the academics of students would be hindered and their academic performance would decline.

Hybrid learning requires for students to have discipline and to be active in their academics but some students become uninterested and disengage from their education. This results in lack of participation in classroom attendance and discouragement.

The traditional educational system is starting to become irrelevant to the younger generations and they are turning towards the hybrid learning system. Every student is different and hybrid learning can help with those students who don’t thrive in a traditional classroom setting. Hybrid learning gives students freedom with their education and helps to prepare them for real working situations. Timothy House gives our students the independence which they crave, while ensuring they are safe and expertly guided, at their own pace. The hybrid schooling system is the new era of education and Timothy House School is the perfect example of a hybrid schooling environment.
